Strandhill Maternity Photo Shoot

Maternity photo shoots are getting more and more popular these days, with lots of people adding them to a newborn photo shoot to complete the story.

I have to say, I really enjoy the maternity photo shoots. This type of shoot gives you really elegant images of a time in your life that is so important and exciting. The eyes are where you can always capture the excitement and expectation in the mum and dad-to-be! To me, these are timeless images that tell their own unique and really personal story, one that is passed on to their newborn child and remembered for so many years to come.

Some couples visit our Charlestown photography studio for maternity shoots, but we also do maternity photo shoots on location. Lisa and Michael, the parents-to-be, live in Strandhill and love their home so much it had to be part of their newborn story.

The maternity photo shoot was in mid-summer so we opted for an evening shoot. Summer evenings at the beach in the west of Ireland give the most amazing light to make dreamy images!

Preparing for your bump photo shoot

The most important thing to consider if you are planning a maternity photo shoot is to be comfortable. Mum-to-be will usually be between 32 and 36 weeks pregnant, which is the ideal time for a bump photo shoot.

Spend some time planning your photo shoot outfits. Make sure your clothes and shoes are comfy. If you’re changing outfits during the photo shoot, make sure it’s easy to do that – especially if you’re on location!

A walk about somewhere close to home or in a place you really love is the perfect location for your maternity photo shoot.
